Transform: Education

Haiti’s education system—from early childhood through university—faces deep and persistent challenges in access, quality, and equity. Many children start school late or never enroll at all due to poverty, costs, and the limited availability of early learning opportunities. Public schools are often overcrowded, underfunded, and lack trained teachers. Meanwhile, most primary and secondary schools are privately run and prohibitively expensive for many families.

At the university level, access is even more limited. Outdated infrastructure, few research opportunities, and minimal investment in professional development restrict students' ability to grow, lead, and contribute to national progress.

Haiti needs education—now more than ever. We’re proud that some of our students have chosen to carry the mantle, dedicating themselves to teaching and empowering the generations who will walk behind them. Their commitment gives us hope for a more educated, resilient, and self-determined future.

“Over the past several years, Blue Butterfly’s Lakou Kajou program has had the privilege of working with several talented H.E.L.P. interns and graduates. Their curiosity, initiative, and professionalism have elevated our work in meaningful ways. These young professionals don't just contribute—they lead, ask the right questions, and seek out growth. H.E.L.P.’s model doesn’t just talk about building capacity; it delivers it.
