Bernard Fils-Aimé Memorial Scholarship
Community Event
Join us!
The Haitian Education and Leadership Program and the Fils-Aimé family invite you to attend the annual Bernard Fils-Aimé Memorial Scholarship community event on Saturday, January 17, 2026 @ Green Space Miami in Little Haiti. Free admission.
We hope you’ll join us as we honor the late Bernard Fils-Aimé — the visionary activist, educator, and entrepreneur who devoted his life to championing the Haitian people at home and throughout the diaspora.
This gathering will bring together some of Haiti’s most inspiring creative forces, including Levoy Exil, a founding master of the Saint Soleil movement. His artwork will be on display and available for purchase, with 50% of proceeds benefiting the Haitian Education & Leadership Program.
Enjoy light bites, cocktails, and a powerful panel conversation exploring the role of the diaspora in advancing activism for Haiti. Through their work in activism, education, art, storytelling, and law, each panelist carries forward Fils-Aimé’s mission: to uplift, inspire, and celebrate Haiti.

Bernard Fils-Aimé
Bernard Fils-Aimé was a visionary Haitian entrepreneur and compassionate activist whose legacy continues to light the way toward progress. His unwavering commitment to the Haitian people shaped every chapter of his life—from co-founding the Haitian Refugee Center to serving as a guiding force on the board of the Haitian Education & Leadership Program.
A leader with both conviction and heart, Bernard helped transform Haiti’s communications landscape as the managing director of Comcel Haiti, steering the company from its founding in 1998 through its acquisition by Digicel in 2012.
At the core of Bernard’s work was a profound belief that education is the catalyst for transformative leadership and lasting change. His remarkable journey continues to inspire, and his impact endures through the Bernard Fils-Aimé Memorial Scholarship Fund—an effort to carry forward his commitment to opportunity, dignity, and a brighter future for all.
““We fought for and won our freedom; and our culture has a depth and beauty of which any knowledgeable person could only admire and be in awe.””
— Bernard Fils-Aimé, 2020
