Meet Helen Bodian
Helen is a New York-based photographer with a background in civil and human rights law, holding a B.A. in Art History and a J.D. from NYU. She began her legal career by helping to found Prisoners Legal Services of New York and later specialized in constitutional appeals, advocating for justice and systemic reform. Her work at Columbia University’s Center for Human Rights focused on refugee and migration issues as well as the protection of children in armed conflict. Now a full-time photographer, Helen’s work has been published and exhibited widely, reflecting her deep interest in storytelling, human dignity, and social impact. A passionate advocate for education and equity, she is a dedicated supporter of the Haitian Education and Leadership Program.
