“We believe Haiti’s future depends on its young leaders—and the Haitian Education & Leadership Program gives them the tools to transform their country with dignity and vision. Supporting this small but might organization is our way of investing in lasting, generational change for Haiti.”

Meet Rick Barger

Rick and his wife, Harriet, are the founders of the Haitian Timoun Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing sustainable hope and dignity to the children of Haiti. His journey toward this calling began in 1997 with a visit to Haiti that ignited a lifelong commitment to justice, leadership development, and global partnership.

Before entering seminary, Rick spent 12 years in the construction industry across the Middle East—including Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. That period left a profound impact on him, as he witnessed firsthand the complexities of international development. These experiences deeply informed his passion for justice and his understanding of global need.

Rick holds BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering and Management, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctor of Ministry. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including President of Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He is a passionate mentor, author, speaker, and leadership coach who believes deeply in empowering the next generation. Through his work, Rick continues to inspire transformation in individuals and communities both in the U.S. and abroad.
